Hoult, Irene Gesina
Irene Gesina Hoult, 95, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, at St Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 5, at Peace United Church of Christ in Monticello. The Rev. Peter Wenzel will officiate at the service. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Goettsch Funeral Home in Monticello. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Monticello.
Surviving are her children, Shirley (Robert) Meier of Springville and Barbara (James) Tschantz of Marion; four grandchildren, Brent (Jennifer) Meier, Tami (Patrick) Recker, Steve (Sarabeth) Tschantz and Stacey (Kevin) Yoder; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Edward on March 12, 1968; two sisters, Bernice Stiffler and Elfreda Appleby; brother, Lewis Burrichter; and an infant brother.
Irene Gesina Hoult was born Nov. 1, 1915, in Monticello, Iowa. She was the daughter of Martin and Lena (Paulsen) Burrichter. Irene was a 1932 graduate of Monticello High School; following high school she attended Lenox College in Hopkinton, where she graduated in 1934 and obtained her teaching certificate from the state of Iowa. On Aug. 5, 1937, Irene and George Edward Hoult were united in marriage in Monticello. Irene joined the Order of the Eastern Star in November 1937, was a member of Business Professional Women, and was also a member of Peace United Church of Christ. She worked as a bookkeeper at Langworthy Creamery, Kurigers and Kramer Bros. and enjoyed cards, reading, puzzles, quilting, and embroidering.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peace United Church of Christ or Camp Courageous.
