Hotchkiss, Steven M.
Steven M. Hotchkiss, 68, of McGregor, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully at the Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, Wis., on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, after a courageous year long fight against kidney cancer. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, at St. Pius X Catholic Church with the Rev. David Ambrosy officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Cedar Memorial Park Family Center.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Rose; his two sons, Michael Hotchkiss of Cedar Rapids and Al Hotchkiss and wife Carrie of Waukee; his grandchildren, Leah and Eli Hotchkiss; two brothers, Craig Hotchkiss and wife Debbie of Toddville and Bruce Hotchkiss and wife Colleen of Clive; his sister, Michele Greenwood and husband Dave of Bettendorf; his aunt and uncle, Ginny and Ed Adams of Cedar Falls; his close cousin Toni of Appleton, Wis.; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter-in-law, Angie Hotchkiss.
Steven Michael Hotchkiss was born May 4, 1944, in Santa Monica, Calif., the son of Gerald R. and Dorothy (Trout) Hotchkiss. He was a graduate of Regis High School in Cedar Rapids. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage to Rose Marie Crosby. He worked for the City of Cedar Rapids and later served as vice president of Midwest Janitorial Supply Corporation in Cedar Rapids, until retirement in 2003. He enjoyed fishing with family and friends on the Mississippi River and while vacationing in Canada and Minnesota. He also enjoyed golf and bowling. He cherished his time spent with his golden retriever, Rusty; his sons, Mike and Al; and wife Rose.
He was a wonderful father, husband, brother and grandfather and will be greatly missed by many family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Steve's honor may be made to the American Kidney Foundation or to your local humane society or animal welfare organization.
