Hospers, Roger Brent
Roger Brent Hospers, 68, of Fairfield, died Dec. 21, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. His body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Packwood Christian Church in Packwood, with Pastor Frosty Van Voorst officiating. Burial will be at a later date. The family will receive friends one hour before service time from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are in the care of Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
He was born March 3, 1942, in Iowa City, to Roger and Irene (Shirlaw) Hospers. He graduated from City High School in Iowa City. He attended college at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. Brent married Colee Coop on Dec. 21, 1963, at the Antioch Church, north of Fairfield. He and his brother, Garth, started Hospers and Brother Printing Co. in Iowa City and the company expanded to Ottumwa. Brent was also a consultant with Crouser and Associates.
Brent was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners, Rotary Club and the Packwood Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a nephew: Jeremy; two uncles and an aunt.
He is survived by his wife, Colee, of Fairfield; a special grandson, Lucas of Agency, who was the light of Brent's life; nephew, Shane Hendricks of Kalona; a brother, Garth and his wife, Terrie Hospers, of Boulder, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Packwood Christian Church.
