Hosch, Leonard L.
Leonard L. Hosch, 82, of Monticello, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade after a brief illness. Friends may call from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello where a parish vigil service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Friends may also call after 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. The Rev. Paul Baldwin will officiate. Military Honors will be accorded by the Monticello Drill Team. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
Leonard was born Aug. 12, 1931, in Randolph, Neb., the son of Nicholas and Katherine (Rogers) Hosch. He attended the Randolph schools until his family moved back to Iowa in 1944. He served in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954 in an Army artillery unit. Leonard married Dolores Adams on May 14, 1955, in Lancaster, Wis. Together they began farming near Scotch Grove and later on their current farm, northeast of Monticello.
Leonard is survived by his wife, a sister, Rita Wilgenbusch of Monticello; a few in-laws; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Hilda Leytem, Florence Kelchen, Dolores White and Irene Kramer; and six brothers, Ray, Herb, Clarence, Fred, Herman and Carl Hosch.
