Hormann, Dale R.
Dale R. Hormann, 77, of 106 Third Ave., Hiawatha, died peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, at St. Pius Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Phil Thompson. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Molly; brothers, Robert Hormann of Lisbon, and Don Hormann of Mount Vernon; brothers-and sisters-in-law, Mike and Kate Costigan of Conover, Pat and Bob Martin of New Hampton, Peg and Tom Hove of Cresco, and Phil and Marguerite Costigan of Caledonia, Minn.; mother-in-law, Lila Costigan of Ossian; and many special nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Saundra Hormann; brother, Jerry Hormann; and father-in-law, John Costigan.
Born Dec. 27, 1933, in Lowden, Iowa, Dale was the son of Paul and Frieda (Edler) Hormann. On May 11, 1973, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Molly Costigan in Marion, Iowa. He worked as a truck driver for Iowa Pipe and Supply and then for Thrall Distribution.
Dale's joys were fishing, truck driving, travel, Minnesota vacations at Wambolts, working on cars and spending time with his nieces and nephews.
