Hora, John D.
John D. Hora, 77, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at the Crestview Care and Rehab Center in West Branch. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch, where a visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until service time.

John David Hora was born April 6, 1933, in Iowa City, the son of John and Yolanda Palik Hora. He attended Scott #2 rural school and graduated from Iowa City High in 1951. He was a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean conflict; he attended the University of Iowa for a short time following his time in the military.
For 43 years he owned and operated Hora Brothers Auto Service in West Branch with his brother Jaro. He was involved with drag racing, was a lifetime member of the Odd Fellows Eureka Lodge #44 in Iowa City and member CSA (Czechoslovakian Society of America).
He is survived by his brother, Jaro (Joanne) of West Branch; nephew, Jeff (Susan) Hora of Roxboro, N.C.; and a niece, Barbara (Chip) Schwartz of Birmingham, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
