Hopp, Melvin Roy
Melvin Roy Hopp died Sept. 6, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, at the age of 82 years.
He is survived by his wife, Joan of Homestead; five children, Gary M. (Carol) Hopp of West Amana, Terry (Steve) Hegewald of Keota, Kim (Chuck) Brockmann of Long Grove, Gregg Hopp of Victor and Derek Hopp of Williamsburg; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gilbert Hopp and Willard Hopp.
Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Homestead. The Rev. Terry Small will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, with military rites by the Marengo VFW. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg.
A memorial fund has been established for St. Luke's Hospice and St. John's Lutheran Church, Homestead.
