Hope (Sankot) Rogers, 99, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Oct. 30, 2023, at her home in Vinton.
At Hope’s request, she has been cremated, and there will be no services.
Hope was born on Feb. 4, 1924, in Belle Plaine, Iowa, the daughter of Frank J. and Frances (Heller) Sankot. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School. On Oct. 14, 1944, she was united in marriage to Robert L. Rogers in Belle Plaine. Robert preceded her in death in 1984.
Hope worked as a legal secretary for many years, and was elected as a Benton County Supervisor, serving from 1973 through 1980.
She is survived by her children, Mary Catherine Rogers of Cedar Rapids, Jeanne (Patrick) Swift of Cedar Rapids, Crystal Evens of Vinton, Anthony (Sharon) Rogers of Vinton; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband Robert, she was preceded in death by her son Robert Carl Rogers, and daughter-in-law Rosanne; five brothers, F.L., Albert, Herbert, Roy, and Otto Sankot; one sister, Helen Whelan; and her great-granddaughter, Lainey Robertson.
