Hootman, Kenneth L.
Kenneth L. Hootman, 67, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center. Services: 1 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, by Cedar Memorial Certified Celebrant Julie Freese. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday and after noon Sunday.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Robin; daughters, Sabra Hootman and Kendra Butler, both of Cedar Rapids, and Kassandra (Rick) O'Mara of Otter Creek; five brothers; four sisters; and grandchildren, Christian and Adriana Drury and David A. Butler.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Kenny was born April 5, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, to Joseph and Eleanor Hootman of Shellsburg. Kenny was an Army veteran of Vietnam and injured while there. He belonged to the VFW and the DAV.
He was a molder at Iowa Steel for over 25 years, then a machinist at Cedarapids Inc. for over 15 years, retiring in 2006.
Kenny was known for his unique sarcastic sense of humor and loved playing jokes on people. He also appreciated vintage cars. Kenny was the kind of man who would do anything for his family and friends.
