Hook, Carol Ann

Carol Ann Hook, 65, died Monday afternoon, May 14, 2012, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Papich-Kuba Janeba Chapel West, 1604 J St. SW, where friends may call after 9 a.m. Burial: Czech National Cemetery.

Carol is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Christine Wolfe, Marion, and Greg Wolfe and wife Jacki, Monticello; grandchildren, Jacob, Isaac and Joshua Wolfe; and special friend, Jan Schnipkoweit, Mechanicsville.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jeff Wolfe; parents, Louis Jr. and Helen (Shulista) Sojka; and sister, Mary Lou Henry.

Carol was born Sept. 3, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, and was a lifelong resident of the Cedar Rapids and Marion area. She married Richard K. Hook on March 14, 1997, in Cedar Rapids. Carol had worked as an over-the-road truck driver for 32 years and during that time had also been a school bus driver in Cedar Rapids and Mount Vernon.

She attended First Church of the Nazarene in Cedar Rapids and was a member of Lodge ProkopVelky 137 C.S.A. and St. Mary's Society 119 Czech Catholic Union. Carol had received the Safe Driving Award for her many years of accident-free truck driving.

She enjoyed traveling and woodworking, especially building birdhouses, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
