Hood, Everett
Everett Hood, 86, of Marion, died Monday, June 13, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital following a brief illness. Graveside services and entombment with military rites will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 16, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. John Malone will officiate. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include son, Glen Hood of Cedar Rapids; granddaughter, Venus (Joseph) Jeffords of Marion; grandson, Erick (Tiffany) Hood of Durant; and six great-grandchildren, Damian, Angelica, Christina and Kaylyn Jeffords and Jayde and Byron Hood.
He was preceded in death by his parents; spouse, Lois Lorraine Hood; son, Byron L Hood; and brother, Burton Hood.
Everett Hood was born March 3, 1925, in Massena, Iowa, the son of Ira and Dolly (Porter) Hood. He married Lois Lorraine Hood on Sept. 1, 1946, in Atlantic. Everett was a branch manager for the Skelly Oil Co. Everett served 30 months in the Navy during World War II and was a life member of the Marion American Legion No. 298 and the Moose Lodge No. 175 in Lincoln, Neb. He was also involved with the Cedar Rapids Eagles Club No. 2272. Everett enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and golf, but even more, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
