Homer B. Oxley, 92, of Marion passed away, May 13, 2025. A Graveside Service will be held at 12 PM, Monday, May 19, 2025, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Garden of the Last Supper. Visitation will be from 10 AM – 12 PM, Monday, May 19 at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Homer was born on October 31, 1932, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Edgar Jackson and Evelyn Oreen (Hammond) Oxley. He was united in marriage to Gladys M. Swortz on April 24, 1965, in Marion, Iowa. Homer worked for Wilson Foods / Farmstead in Cedar Rapids. Homer loved everything to do with cars. He especially enjoyed spending time in the garage with his buddies in the garage and their Sunday meetings for “Car Church.” Homer also liked fishing and camping and in his later years, feeding the squirrels and birds.
Survivors include his children, Jerry (Linda) Oxley of Deming, NM, Jacklyn (Eugene) Wagner of Hiawatha, Richard Oxley of Cedar Rapids, Cindy Oxley Deruyter (Craig McKusker) of Marengo, and Barrie (Teresa) Oxley of Marion; long time family member, Neil Stein of Marion; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife Gladys in 2016; and his brother Dick Oxley.
