Holtz, Janet Emaline Brant (Ferguson)
Janet Emaline Brant (Ferguson) Holtz, 85, recently of Missouri Valley, Iowa, formerly of McGregor, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2011 at the Longview Home Care Center, Missouri Valley. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, First Presbyterian Church, 301 First St. NW, Mount Vernon. Interment in Mount Vernon Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, John Holtz; children, Donna Hillis of West Branch, Neil (Jeanie) Ferguson of Omaha, Neb., Jeanne (Bud) Stanford of Valdosta, Ga., Joni (Tom) Hoyland of Corpus Christi, Texas, Kathy (Andy) Springer of Ocala, Fla., and Lisa (Mike) Russell of San Antonio, Texas; a brother, James (Darlene) Brant of Atkins; sisters, Dorothy (Wilferd) Becker of Newhall, and Marilyn (William) Stones of Santa Maria, Calif.; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Glenn Ferguson; her parents, Jesse Elias and Mata Henrietta Schliemann Brant; and brothers, Marvin Brant and Virgil Brant.
Jan was born March 3, 1925, outside of Keystone, Iowa. She graduated from Keystone High School in May 1943. She married Donald Glenn Ferguson on Feb. 25, 1948, and moved to Mount Vernon, Iowa, where they resided on their farm. From this union, two children were born, Donna and Neil. After the death of her first husband, Janet moved to Marion, Iowa, where she worked for Collins Radio. She met and married John Holtz who brought into this union his four children, Jeanne, Joni, Kathy and Lisa. After retirement, they moved to Northeast Iowa, where they resided for many years.
