Holten, Katherine
Katherine Holten, 73, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011. Memorial Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church by the Rev. Randy Kasch. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Inurnment: Per Katherine's request, cremation and a private inurnment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Survivors include her children, Carl Holten (Patty) of Harpers Ferry, Arlan (Michelle) Holten of Cedar Rapids, Susan Holten (Tim) of Center Point, and Paula Beltz (Joe) of Cedar Rapids; brothers, Gordon and Shorty (Donald); and sisters, Franny and Bev.
She was proceeded in death by her father and mother, Gilbert and Luella Anderson; five sisters and one brother.
Katherine was born March 26, 1938, in Decorah, Iowa, to a large family of 11 brothers and sisters, with her being the youngest. She married Eldon M. Holten April 2, 1956, in Decorah. Al and Katie moved to Cedar Rapids had two boys, moved to Mason City had two girls, then moved back to Cedar Rapids and became a line supervisor at Square D Co., where she retired. She was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, planting flowers, crocheting, yard work and an occasional afternoon toddy. She truly missed her late husband.
Her children know their Dad will take great care of you until we all see you again someday.
