Holly, Kenneth A.
Kenneth A. Holly, 92, of Mercy Hallmar died there on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, after a short illness. Services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer will officiate. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy (Tom) Steinke of Cedar Rapids; and a brother Louis (Carole) of Monticello.
He is also survived by four grandchildren, Clay Burton, Kelly, Stacey and Joel Steinke; and six great-grandchildren, Brooke, Sarah, Owen, Claudia, Vivian and Zachary.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Judith Burton; two sisters, Ellen Voss and Marjorie Kliefoth; and a brother, James.
Ken was born on Dec. 29, 1919, in Clayton County, Iowa, the son of Albert and Anna Chapek Holly. He married Helen M. Trappe on Jan. 31, 1942, in Cedar Rapids. She died in 2007. Ken was a masonry superintendent and warehouse manager for O.F. Paulsen for over 51 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, the Bricklayers Union and Mount Hermon Masonic Lodge.
Ken enjoyed wood working, gardening, was an avid baseball fan and a die hard Cubs fan. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
