Holecek, Vivian M.
Vivian M. Holecek, 88, of 439 Lindale Dr., Marion, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, at Northbrook Manor after a short illness. Memorial services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Nick Longworth will officiate. Inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. today.
Survivors include a son, Ron (Laura) of Marion; and a daughter, Susan Miller of Nekoosa, Wis.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, Carrie and Amy Holecek, Bill (Melissa) Miller and Angie (Sheree) Miller; two great-grandchildren, Sean and Brandon; two stepgrandchildren, Derrick and Nichole Jellison; and two special friends, Mary McWilliams and Bill McCool.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, Nadine and Maxine; and a son-in-law, William Miller.
Vivian was born on July 7, 1922, in a farm house near Walker, Iowa, the daughter of Milo and Linda Mounce Benesh. She married Edward L. Holecek on May 9, 1945, in Cedar Rapids. He died in 1988. Vivian worked in assembly at Collins Radio for over 29 years, retiring in 1980. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Eastern Iowa Country Steppers. She enjoyed baking, taking long walks, dancing, swimming and daily happy hour from 4 to 5 p.m. with family and friends.
Memorial donations may be given to St. Lukes Hospice in Vivian's name.
