Hogue, Noel Edwin
Noel Edwin Hogue, also known well as Ed Hogue, 92, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, after losing his 30-year battle with congestive heart failure.
He was born May 30, 1919, in Fort Worth, Texas, and was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Maude Hogue of Fayetteville, Ark.; a brother and sister-in-law, A.J. Hogue and Etta Osborne Hogue of Fort Worth, Texas; and a sister and brother-in-law, Alice Hogue Moore and Jack Moore of White Settlement, Texas.
Ed is survived by his wife, Harriett Ann Hogue of Cedar Rapids; son and daughter-in-law, Noel Charles Hogue and Debra Sue Paulsen-Hogue of Cedar Rapids; and a sister, Esther Mae Holley of Goodell, Mich.
Ed spent four years in the United States Air Corps during World War II and was eventually stationed at Truax Field in Madison, Wis. While stationed at Truax Field he met and married Harriett Ann Keyes on Jan. 1, 1943. Following his honorary military discharge Ed attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, graduating with high honors with a degree in electrical engineering, including an option in atomic physics.
Following graduation Ed was employed by Collins Radio Co. in Cedar Rapids, working there for 33 years. In 1976, Ed was honored with the Engineer of the Year award for the Collins Radio division of Rockwell International. Ed spent the last 18 years of his employment at Rockwell Collins as the head of an Advanced Technology Group. Ed retired on Dec. 31, 1982.
Ed was a longtime member of Kenwood Park Presbyterian Church which has relocated and is now known as Echo Hill Presbyterian Church.
Ed was a kind, generous, and wonderful husband, father, and friend to many, and he will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
A memorial service, with military rites, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where friends may call after 12:30 p.m. The Rev. Bill Warhover will officiate. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family asks that instead of flowers donations be sent to Echo Hill Presbyterian Church.
