Hogan, Michael Henry
Michael Henry Hogan, 68, of Durant, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at his home in Durant. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 23, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Durant, by Pastor Nate Montover. Interment will take place at Durant Cemetery, where Durant American Legion Post 430 will conduct military honors. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 22, at Bentley Funeral Home, Durant, and one hour before the service Saturday at the church.
Mike farmed in Cedar County his entire life and owned and operated Hogan Financial Services in Durant.
He was an active member of Durant VFW Post 1870, where he had served as quartermaster, and American Legion Post 430, Durant, where he held many offices, including post commander, post adjutant, district commander and department vice commander. He was appointed head of the National Children and Youth Committee of the National American Legion. He was a member of the Cedar County Conservation Board and the Davenport Eagles Lodge.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Julie of Durant; his children, Deborah and husband Bob Lorenz of Cedar Rapids, Murray and wife Kim Hogan of Muscatine, Jeanne Staats of Muscatine, Julie Fisher of Durant and Jeffrey Hogan of Durant; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one due in November; his brothers, Keith Hogan of Durant and Dean Hogan of Tipton; and his former wife, Karen Hogan of Muscatine.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant son, Michael Hogan Jr.
Memorial donations may be made to Durant American Legion, American Legion Foundation or American Cancer Society in his memory.
