Hoffner, August N.
August N. Hoffner, 77, of Oxford Junction, died Thursday, May 10, 2012, at his home. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 14, at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction. There will be no funeral services. Burial will be held at a later date.
August Neil Hoffner was born Aug. 14, 1934, in Clarence, Iowa, to Henry and Lucy Elizabeth (Davis) Hoffner. He attended school in Clarence. He married Barbara Posusta on Nov. 26, 1963, in Independence. August worked for over 35 years at Bahl Lumber Co. in Oxford Junction until his retirement.
He enjoyed playing cards, pool, and watching NASCAR and Hawkeye football. He loved to spend time with family and to tell stories.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Hoffner of Oxford Junction; seven children, Vincent Hoffner of Dallas, Texas, Virginia (Brent) Hussmann of Hopkinton, Victoria (Harry) Dundee of Wyoming, Virgil Hoffner of Eau Claire, Wis., Beverly (Lee) Templeton of Clarence, and Barb (Robert) Maddix and Robert Hoffner, both of Iowa City; 15 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Henecke of Cedar Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald Hoffner; two sisters, Evelyn Hoffner and Geraldine Aegerter; and a daughter, Vicky Clark.
Memorials are preferred.
