Hoffmeier, Helen
Helen Hoffmeier, 92, of Lowden, died Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Paula J. Baber Hospice House in Fort Dodge. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Trinity Lutheran Church, Lowden, with the Rev. Victor Young officiating. Burial: Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation: 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.
Survivors include daughters, Susan Letourneau of Mendota Heights, Minn. and Gloria (Doug) Casey of Manson; grandchildren, Jennifer (T.J.) O'Brien, Lucas (Lindsay) Casey, Johanna (Andy) Altmayer, Zachary (fiancee Charolette Heil) Letourneau and Anthony Letourneau; great-granddaughters, Casey Mae O'Brien and Afton and Emery Casey; and brother, Milton (Bud) Kohnert of Calamus.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Lloyd.
Helen was born March 30, 1921, in Scott County, Iowa, to George and Mayme Grau Kohnert. She married Gerhard Hoffmeier on June 8, 1947, at Grand Mound. He died March 18, 2005. Helen moved from Lowden to Manson, Iowa, in 2002. She was a past member of the Lowden AMVETS Auxiliary and the Trinity Ladies Aid. Helen enjoyed flowers, spending time with her family and played cards to the very end.
