Hoffmeier, Gertrude
Gertrude Hoffmeier, 89, of Lowden, died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, at the Wheatland Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Trinity Lutheran Church, Lowden, by the Rev. Victor Young. Burial: church cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence.
Survivors include a daughter, Julayne Hoffmeier and partner Carolynn Munson of Sacramento, Calif; three sons, Bruce (Karen) of Newton, Brian (Patti) of Arvada, Colo., and Barry (Julie) of Lowden; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys Scheeper of Lowden and Luverne (Bob) Fiala of Goeleta, Calif; and a brother, Larry (Virjean) Stolte of Lowden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother and two sisters. Born Aug. 21, 1920, in Lowden, the daughter of Emil and Emma (Meier) Stolte, she married Herold Hoffmeier there on April 19, 1942. He died Sept. 15, 2007.
Gertrude had worked as an aide at Wheatland Manor Nursing Home for many years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she had been active in various church organizations. She was a member of the Lowden AMVETS and loved quilting, baking and sewing. She also loved music.
