Hoffa, David 'Dan'
David “Dan” Hoffa, 52, of 8601 Blairs Ferry Rd NE, died Monday March 1, 2010, in his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at Sammy's Lounge, 5519 Center Point Rd NE, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his mother, Marilyn Colleen Hoffa of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Mike (Annette) Hoffa of Lebanon, N.H.; a sister, Belinda (Kevin) Loux of Center Point; a sister-in-law, Julie Hoffa of Rochester, Minn.; seven nieces and nephews; three great-nieces; and many friends who were a second family to him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald F. Hoffa; and a brother, Gregory A. Hoffa.
Daniel was born Oct. 23, 1957, in Des Moines, the son of Gerald and Marilyn Hoffa. The family moved to California for seven years before making their home in Cedar Rapids. David graduated from Washington High School and worked for the past 15 years as a welder at Terex Corporation. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings Fan and a NASCAR Fan with a favorite driver of Denny Hamlin. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and time spent with family and friends. He loved being with people and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Mercy and Iowa Blood and Cancer Care. A special thanks is extended to Rebecca and Sarah.
