Hobstetter, Evelyn Catherine

Evelyn Catherine Hobstetter, 92, of Tipton, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, in Legacy Gardens, Iowa City. A gathering of family and friends will take place Saturday, Jan. 23, between 3 and 5 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton.

Evelyn was born March 27, 1917, in Scranton, Iowa, to Chris C. and Carrie O. Benson Christensen. She graduated from Grant High School in Cedar Rapids. On Dec. 26, 1951, Evelyn was united in marriage to William Arthur Hobstetter in Iowa City. Evelyn was a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother.

Evelyn is survived by her three daughters, Frances Lonergan of Davenport, Iowa, Sandy (Larry) Childs and Mary Jo (Larry) Geadelmann of Tipton, Iowa; sister, Doris Spicker of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill on Feb. 12, 2004; two sisters, Stella Haynes and Bernice Pyszka; and three brothers, Bernard, Cecil and Leslie.
