Hite, Steven Duane
Steven Duane Hite, 64, of Vinton, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at the Iowa City VA Health Care System following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at First Christian Church in Vinton, with the Rev. Connie Wacht officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton and also one hour before services at the church on Wednesday. Military rites will be performed by Geo. G. Luckey American Legion Post 57 and Iowa Military Funeral Honors. Steve's body will be cremated following the services.
Steve is survived by his wife, Sue of Vinton; one son, Allen Hite of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Mindy (Shawn) Kies and Chris (Doug) Miller, both of Vinton; four brothers, Marvin (Marilyn) Hite of Vinton, Mike (Becky) Hite of Gresham, Ore., Richard Hite of Mill Valley, Calif., and Gary (Jackie) Hite of Vacaville, Calif.; one sister, Lynda Nelson of Pittsburg, Kan.; and six grandchildren, Charity, Patience and Faith Kies, and Justin, Jennifer and Johnathon Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jim Hite; and one brother-in-law, Lee Nelson.
A memorial fund has been established.
Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home of Vinton is caring for Steve and his family.
