Hite, Everett J.
Everett J. Hite, 84, of 3340 Sunburst Ave., Marion, passed away Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010, at the Northbrook Manor Care Center, Cedar Rapids. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mark's Lutheran Faith and Life Center in Marion. Entombment with military honors will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation, with the family present, will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids.
Surviving to honor his memory are his wife of 59 years, Doris; three daughters, Linda McCaw of Fargo, N.D., Donna (Patrick) Servey of Louisville, Tenn., and Karla (David) Hite-Cliburn of Norway, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Tammy Fox, Michelle Bettels, Joseph and Jacob Servey and Kegan, Chase, Corey and Devri Cliburn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Everett was born May 16, 1926, in Felton, Minn., to Henry and Gertrude (Bradford) Hite. He married Doris Skogen on Feb. 6, 1951, in Fargo, N.D. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Marion American Legion Post No. 298. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Faith and Life Center and the Sertoma Club. He was employed in sales for McCormick Company-Schilling Corp. for over 27 years.
