Hinshaw, Rosalie

Rosalie Hinshaw, 76, of Marion, formerly of Newton, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at her home. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service Thursday. Burial will be held at Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg, with a reception to follow at the home of Judy and Alvin Cooper, 411 Water St., Kellogg.

Rosalie was born Sept. 8, 1936, in Prairie City, Iowa, to Richie and Mary (Waddel) Stamper. She was united in marriage with Bill Hinshaw on Jan. 28, 1956, at the Methodist Church in Newton. Rosalie attended the Kellogg High School and graduated from Newton High School in 1955. She worked at Newton Telephone Company, Cedar Rapids School Administration offices and Grant Wood AEA, but she was primarily a homemaker. Rosalie enjoyed traveling, painting, camping, gardening, cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Rosalie is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Hinshaw of Marion; son, Timothy Hinshaw of Iowa City; her two daughters, Sandra (Marvin) Thompson and Linda (Glenn) McClintic, both of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Brian (Aja) Hinshaw of North Liberty, Amy (Paul) Sanders of Iowa City, Glenn McClintic IV, Cassandra Thompson, Jake Thompson and Emily McClintic, all of Cedar Rapids; and her sister, Darlene Johnson of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Delbert Stamper; sisters, Pat Lear and Lois Mettler; and a son, Donald Hinshaw, in infancy.
