Hinman, James H.
James H. Hinman, 80, of Marion, died Tuesday, May 3, 2011. Memorial services: 11 a.m. Monday, May 16, at First United Methodist Church in Marion. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes; children, James B. Hinman of Piscataway, N.J., Constance (Steve) King of Severn, Md., Carol Hinman of Marion, Dianna (Brad) Heddinger of Loves Park, Ill., and David (Wendy) Hinman of Dubuque; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Doris (Marvin) Helmrichs of Oneida, Almon (Peg) Hinman of Charlston, S.C., Lila Thornton of Mukwonago, Wis., Leland Hinman of Beecher, Ill., and Lee (Irene) Hinman of Palm City Beach, Fla.; and a sister-in-law, Sue Hinman of Nevada.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Ed and Paul Hinman.
James was born Aug. 9, 1930, in Peoria, Ill., the son of Howard and Dorothy (Danford) Hinman. He graduated from Oneida class of 1947, then attended the University of Dubuque. James served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. On Aug. 8, 1953, James was united in marriage to Agnes Burke in Earlville. He worked as a carpenter and was the Marion building inspector for five years.
James was a member of Carpenters Union Local 308 of Cedar Rapids, First United Methodist Church in Marion and Marion American Legion Post 298.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to the First United Methodist Church in Marion designated toward a tree to be placed on the new building grounds dedicated to Jim's memory.
