Hines, Rosemary Emma
Rosemary Emma Hines, 83, of Cedar Rapids, died Aug. 18, 2010, at Keystone Cedars Care Center, with her family at her side. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church. The Rev. David Beckman will officiate. Friends may call today from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, with a rosary service starting at 4 p.m. Friends may also call at the church after 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Interment: Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Survivors include her son, John Hines of Edina, Minn.; daughter, Michelle “Mimi” Myers and husband Jamie of Cedar Rapids; son, Joe Hines and wife Edie of Cedar Rapids; son, Tom Hines and wife Judy of Tucson, Ariz.; son, Tim Hines and wife Sheryl of Cedar Rapids; son, Dan Hines and Molly Power of Cedar Rapids; and daughter, Sarah Remerowski and husband Mike of Cedar Rapids; 12 grandchildren, Amy (Brian) Hogan, Charlie (Aubrey) Myers, Nathan (Michelle) Hines, Damon (Alicia) Hines, Dana Hines, John Hines, James Hines, Kelly (Jay) Hines, Kai Hines, Casey (Shannon) Hines, Brayden Remerowski and Grant Remerowski; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marian Sheehan of Baltimore, Md., Rita Treinen of Sioux City, Iowa and LeVern Kelly of Long Beach, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John “Jack” Hines; infant daughter, Mary Ellen Hines; parents; and three brothers, Joe, Thomas and Louis Lieb.
Rosemary Emma Lieb was born Nov. 23, 1926, in Mitchell, S.D., the beloved daughter of Gearhardt Aloysious and Ida Rose (Sauer) Lieb. She was united in marriage to John “Jack” Hines on Aug. 24, 1949, in Sioux City, Iowa. Jack preceded her in death on Feb. 6, 2007. Rosemary retired from Sears after 30 years of service in the sales and credit department but always said her most treasured memories were spent staying home with her children.
She was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church. She enjoyed shopping with her daughters, collecting and restoring antiques, upholstering, sewing, playing bridge, and staying active in both All Saints and St. Matthew's Catholic churches.
The Hines family would like to thank the entire Keystone staff, Mercy Hospice, Dr. Nick Morio and Father Mark Osterhaus for their special care of Rosemary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Rosemary's honor may be made to St. Matthew's Catholic Church or Hospice of Mercy.
