Hilsenbeck, Jack
Jack Hilsenbeck, 68, of Solon, died from a courageous battle with lung cancer on Friday, June 3, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Brosh Chapel in Solon, where there will be a 5 p.m. vigil.
Jack was born March 13, 1943, in Greeley, the son of Robert and Goldie Hilsenbeck. He married Clara Funke on Oct. 11, 1969, in Ryan. He worked at KW Products for over 35 years. Jack was in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. He was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan and a NASCAR fan, especially Dale Earnhardt. He looked forward to his Friday night trips to Sutliff Bar. He enjoyed his retirement gardening and working in his yard and flower beds. He took pride in his accomplishments.
Jack is survived by his wife, Clara; his children, Tammi of Chicago, Robert of North Liberty and Sean of Solon; sisters, Sheryl Schlagel (Jim) of Westville, Ind., and Bev Hartbeck of Edgewood; and his mother, Goldie Hilsenbeck of Greeley.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert; father-in-law, Ralph Funke; brother-in-law, Gary Hartbeck; niece, Janine Vcelka Kennedy; and many aunts and uncles.
