Hillyer, Esther Martha Sieck
Funeral services for Esther Martha Sieck Hillyer, 92, of Bennett, who died Saturday, July 7, 2012, at Mercy Iowa City will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, at Peace Church of Christ, Tipton. Pastor Barbra Keiper will be officiating. There will be a visitation at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 10. Burial will be at Inland Cemetery, Bennett.
Esther was born Feb. 22, 1920, the daughter of Ferdinand and Louisa Lunow Sieck, in Lowden, Iowa. She attended Lowden school, and on Jan. 11, 1941, she was united in marriage to Raymond William Hillyer in Lowden. Esther was a member of Peace Church of Christ United, Women's Guild/Peace Circle, American Legion Auxiliary, Plus 60 Club and Senior Dining. Esther was employed at the Maid-Rite, Bettendorf, Pioneer and retired from Sheller Globe.
Esther is survived by her sons, Marlin (Pat) Hillyer of Bennett, Vernon Hillyer of Tipton and Don (Linda) Hillyer of Tipton; daughter, Karen (Bill) Tupper of Cheboygan, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildrenl nine stepgreat-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; four sisters, Augusta Behrens, Viola Behrens, Florence Hillyer and Helen Schmidt; one brother, Russell Sieck; and a grandson-in-law, Dick Crock.
A general memorial fund has been established in memory of Esther.
