Hillby, Gerald J.
Gerald J. Hilby, 69, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester following a brief illness. Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 4, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester by the Rev. John Flaherty. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Manchester.
Gerald worked for Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids for 40 years. He owned the Hilby's Antique store in Cedar Rapids. Gerald enjoyed his flower garden and grew prize winning flowers. Gerald was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, and volunteered at the Gift Shop at Mercy Medical Center.
