Higdon, Kaye I.
Kaye I. Higdon, 65, of Springville, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, from complications of diabetes. Celebration of Life services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at Four Oaks Bridge, 2100 First Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include three daughters, Robin (Larry) Kovarik of Marion, Tammy (Bob) Jordan of Marion and Becky Higdon of Springville; a sister, Linda (Harry) Johnson of Mount Pleasant; and six grandchildren, Skyler and Morgan Kovarik, Kyle and Jeremy Jordan and Haley and Heather Higdon. Also surviving are two special “daughters,” Heidi Higdon and Shelly Robinson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert Higdon; and a brother, Robert Young.
Kaye was born June 29, 1945, the daughter of Robert and Mildred (Vermace) Young, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. She was an LPN for over 40 years and most recently a day care provider at Knox Daycare.
Kaye was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a strong believer that hugs were the best medicine. The children she gave care to held a special place in her heart.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and hugged her.
