Hiemstra, Sharron
Sharron Hiemstra, 77, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, at Echo Hill Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 15, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughter, Julie Hiemstra, a granddaughter, Nichole Schrum, and a half brother, Kenneth Johnson, all of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents and spouse, David Hiemstra.
Sharron was born June 8, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Clark and Lucile Johnson. She married David Hiemstra on April 12, 1958, in Cedar Rapids.
Sharron was a member of Echo Hill Presbyterian Church. She was involved in many church activities but especially enjoyed the sewing club, Kitchen Dialogue and Bible study group.
She was especially close to her granddaughter, Nichole, and cherished their special times together.
Sharron was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
The family would like to thank Mercy Hospice and the Ghosh Center for the care and compassion they provided to Sharron.
