Herrick, Robert M.
Robert M. Herrick, 85, of Dubuque, formerly of Independence, died Friday, April 9, 2010, at Stonehill Care Center in Dubuque following a sudden illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 13, at St. John's Catholic Church in Independence. The Rev. Donald Plamondon will be the celebrant and Courtney Haven will be the lector. Friends may call for visitation from 2 until 8 p.m. Monday at White Funeral Home in Independence, where there will be a Knights of Columbus rosary at 3 p.m., a vigil service at 6 p.m. and a military service at 7 p.m. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Independence.
He was born Aug. 19, 1924, in Washington Township of Buchanan County, Iowa. On Jan. 3, 1953, he and the former Helen Ann Diers were married at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Colesburg.
Mr. Herrick is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen; three daughters, Mary (Ron) Radloff of Dyersville, Judy (Matt) Haven of Cedarburg, Wis., and Anne (Dave) Tallett of Cedar Rapids; three sons, Roger Herrick of Cedar Rapids, Dr. Mike (Mary) Herrick of Oshkosh, Wis., and Dr. Pat (Liz) Herrick of Olathe, Kan. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; a sister, Delores (Richard) Lippert of Rockford, Ill.; and a very good neighbor, John Bagge of Independence.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter in infancy, Jeri Ann in 1953; one sister, Virginia Kayser; and two brothers, Joseph Herrick and Dr. John Herrick.
