Herman, DeKesha Lakimya
DeKesha Lakimya Herman, 34, of 5231 Johnson Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Chicago. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her sons, Nadanja and Keshaun Herman, both at home; her mother, Belinda Herman; grandmother, Annette Herman; three sisters, Wynetta Herman of Monroville, Ala., Tanesha Herman of Iowa City and Radeshia Herman of Cedar Rapids; nephews, Quartez Alexander and Marcus Robertson; and niece, LaKimya Cooks.
Born Feb. 21, 1977, in Chicago, DeKesha worked as a courtesy clerk at Hy Vee.
DeKesha graduated from Sioux City West High School in 1997. She participated in the Special Olympics in the shot put while in high school and in the choir.
