Herman, Betty Mae (Halfhill)
Betty Mae (Halfhill) Herman, 81, of Earlville, died Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at Regional Medical Center in Manchester. Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 13, at the Manchester United Methodist Church by Pastor Ruth Tibbott. Visitation: 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Earlville and one hour before services Monday at the church. Inurnment: Zion Cemetery, Colesburg, at a later date.
Betty was born July 25, 1929, in Wood Center, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Amy (Beaman) Halfhill. Graduating from Buck Creek High School, she received her teacher certification from Iowa State Teachers College and Upper Iowa College. She was united in marriage to Arthur Herman on June 4, 1955. Following her marriage, Betty taught at Ss Peter & Paul Schools in Petersburg.
Betty is survived by two children, Lyle Herman of Earlville and Darla (Dave) Gaskill of Manchester; two grandchildren, Melissa (Eric) Cashen and Scott (Emily) Gaskill; five great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Cameron, Abigail, Madeline and Kate; and seven brothers and sisters, Geralda (Bob) Wiig, Lois Halfhill, Lyndall Weir, Myrle Kasner, Wanda Gulick, Robert (Tami) Halfhill and David (Judy Staner) Halfhill.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Art in 1992; her parents, Fred and Amy Halfhill; and one sister, Gladys Primley.
A memorial fund has been established in Betty's name.
