Herdliska, Phyllis J.
Phyllis J. Herdliska, 90, of Coralville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Mercy Hospice in Iowa City following a short illness. In respect of Phyllis' wishes, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Iowa City Hospice or to the Mercy Hospice Unit at Mercy Iowa City.
Phyllis was born on March 12, 1923, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Milo and Cora (Palmer) Elson. She attended schools in Cedar Rapids and later moved to Coralville, where she resided for over 65 years. On Oct. 13, 1945, Phyllis was united in marriage to Howard Herdliska in Cedar Rapids. For nearly 40 years, Phyllis worked as a seamstress for local interior designers until retiring in 1986.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Linda Spilger (Philip) of Lakewood, Wash. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and her adoptive father, Ruel Haynes.
