Herbert J. Peiffer, 81, of Onslow, died 3:34 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2014, at Shady Rest Care Center in
Cascade. Friends and relatives of Herbert may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 23, at Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, where a wake service will be at 7 p.m. Services for Herbert will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Temple Hill, with the Rev. Douglas Loecke presiding. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Temple Hill.
Herbert was born Oct. 9, 1932, in Temple Hill, Iowa, son of John N. and Frances M. (Koob) Peiffer. He received his education in the Temple Hill school. He was employed as a logger and mechanic at Bahl Lumber in Oxford Junction.
He was a member of St. Peter's Parish in Temple Hill.
He is survived by three children, Danny Peiffer of Sabula, Benjamin (Teresa) Peiffer of Mount Pleasant and Cassie (Danny) Isaac of Cedar Rapids; a stepson, William "Butch" Ellison of Fairview; 10 grandchild-ren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Irene Peiffer of Onslow; a brother, Donald (Agnes) Peiffer of East Troy, Wis.; and two sisters-in-law, Rosie Peiffer of Cascade and Pat Peiffer of Minonk, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Merlin, Nicholas and Joseph Peiffer.
