Herbert C. Hansen, 92, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital. Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Hope Lutheran Church, where friends may call after 9 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Daniel Clark-Bridges will officiate. Burial, with military rites: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; two daughters, Sheila Hansen and Karen Pahl (Brent), both of Cedar Rapids; an aunt, Elsie Swager of Wisconsin; a grandson, Andrew (Cassie) Pahl, and great-grandson, Jonathon, of Amana; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Marvin; and two sisters, Marie Lowy and Helen Roney.
Herb was born June 6, 1923, in Lake Mills, Wis., the son of Viggo and Katherine Kripshack Hansen. He married Betty J. Meyer on April 25, 1950, in Clinton.
Herb was a driver for Greyhound for over 33 years, retiring in 1983. He was a faithful member of Hope Lutheran Church, where he participated in its men's group, and the Fairfax American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, camping and cooking, and loved to drive.
He proudly served in the Army during World War II.
Herb was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Hope Lutheran Church.
