Hepker, Virginia Dee (Benedict)

Virginia Dee (Benedict) Hepker, 63, of Blue Springs, Missouri, died Friday, April 19, 2013.

Virginia was born December 19, 1949, in Marion, Iowa, daughter of Russell and Marilyn (Hoover) Benedict. She attended Washington High School in Cedar Rapids. She went on to work at Rockwell International, before she and her family moved to Ottumwa and then the Kansas City area. Virginia retired from Santa Fe Glass Co. in 2011.

Those who knew Virginia know her to be a kind and loving person who cared deeply for her family and others close to her. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, as well crafting, gardening, and baking.

Virginia is survived by her husband, David Hepker; three children, Matt, Dawn, and Kevin; father, Russell Benedict; 4 brothers, Mike, Bob, Jim, and Marc; six grandchildren, Katie, Jaci, Josephine, Breanna, Alex, and Andrew; and several nieces and nephews.

Virginia was preceded in death by her mother, Marilyn (Hoover) Benedict, in 1996; and her brother, Richard, in 1954.

Virginia's family is respecting her wish to conduct a small, private ceremony in her honor.
