Hepker, Dorothy Jean
Dorothy Jean Hepker, 84, of Center Point, died Friday, July 1, 2011, at home. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, at the Center Point United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Mike Ellson. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, rural Toddville.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Clair; her children, David (Karen) Hepker, Delhi, Robert (Kay) Hepker, Center Point, Karen (Jim) Shore, Cedar Rapids, and Cheryl (Steve) Brecht, Center Point; grandchildren, Brian, Jared, Nathan, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Peter, Aaron, Kara, Stephanie, Dan and Sarah; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Marilynn DeMarah, Cedar Rapids; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Stanley (Donna) Hepker, Center Point, Kay Hepker, Kansas City, Kan., and Alma Freeman, Center Point.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Edward Freeman.
Dorothy was born Aug. 13, 1926, the daughter of Ira and Grace (Dowell) Freeman, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On April 10, 1945, she was united in marriage to Clair Hepker at the Toddville Free Methodist Church. Dorothy's greatest love was spending time with her family. She also enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening and tending to her flower bed.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established to Center Point United Methodist Church Building Fund, in honor of Dorothy.
