HENRY FREIE
Cedar Rapids
Henry "Hank" Freie III passed away early Wednesday morning, Oct. 8, 2014, from recently diagnosed cancer at home, peacefully in the company of his family.
Hank dutifully served his country during the Korean War. He was an incredibly organized, skilled craftsman who excelled at everything he took on, from his lifelong work as a lithographer to his hobbies of needlepointing, woodworking, and in the endless pursuit of visiting lighthouses.
After his retirement from Acme Printing in Cedar Rapids in 1996, he and his wife, Vicky, enjoyed many world travels and adventures (which of course he always painstakingly documented!).
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Vicky; his son, Michael; his brother, John; and Vicky's five children, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Hank was preceded in death by his first wife, June (Welsh); his second son, George; and his sister, Gerry.
A visitation and memorial service will be Friday, Oct. 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions should be directed to Mount Mercy University.
