Henry, Ethel Eleanor
Ethel Eleanor Henry, 90, of Marion, died Friday, April 12, 2013, at Willow Gardens Care Center, Marion. Per Ethel's wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Private family burial will take place at a later date.
Survivors include her children, Tim (Jackie) Henry of Marion, and Jo Watson of Norman, Okla.; sister-in-law, Shirley Collins of Marion; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother, Orville Collins Jr.
Ethel was born Sept. 7, 1922, in Marion, the daughter of Orville Sr. and Stella (Reynolds) Collins. She was a graduate of Marion High School, and married Charles Henry on Feb. 27, 1945, in Marion. Ethel worked for Collins Radio for over 25 years, retiring in 1976. She enjoyed fishing, boating, sailing, and square dancing. She was known as an amateur “pool shark”, and was a member of the Power Squadron. Ethel's love of the Chicago Cubs and her family were very important to her.
A memorial fund has been established in Ethel's memory.
