Hendricks, Bennie 'Ben' John
Bennie “Ben” John Hendricks of Bonaparte, Iowa, passed away July 1, 2012, at the Iowa City VA Health Care System, after fighting a long battle with esophageal cancer.
He was born July 15, 1942, in Tiffin, Iowa, son of Stanley and Myrtle Hendricks. Ben graduated from Bonaparte High School, served in the Air Force, and worked as a civilian contractor in Vietnam. He and his wife Rose owned and operated the Bonaparte Retreat Restaurant in Bonaparte for the past 42 years.
Ben is survived by his wife, Rose; daughter, Tammy; son, Jim (Beth); four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother, Marye Kandzor, Edna Ramsey and David Hendricks; and several nieces and nephews.
As per Ben's wishes, he has been cremated. A memorial celebration will be held this autumn, Oct. 21, at Lacey State Park.
Ben will be truly missed by his family and many friends.
Memorials may be made in his name to Hope Lodge and Charities and can be mailed to State Central Bank, 612 First St., Bonaparte, IA 52620.
