Helen Von Ahsen, 95, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the Keystone Nursing Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2023, at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall with Rev. Steven Rempfer officiating. Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. until service time on Thursday, also at the church. Interment will be held at St. John Cemetery in Newhall. A memorial fund has been established.
Helen was born Sept. 18, 1927, in Millersburg, the daughter of Edward and Augusta (Faas) Smith. She was united in marriage to Eldon H. Von Ahsen on Aug. 8, 1946, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. Helen farmed alongside Eldon for many years, along with providing daycare for her two grandsons, and later her three great-grandchildren. Helen was a dedicated member of St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall.
She is survived by her grandsons, Nick (Angie) Von Ahsen, Newhall, and Jeff Von Ahsen, Atkins; her daughter-in-law, Patricia “Pinky” Von Ahsen of Newhall; three great-grandchildren, Will, Emma, and Owen Von Ahsen; her sister-in-law, Lorena Joseph of Columbus, Neb.; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, and husband Eldon, Helen was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Kay; her son, Dennis; and her sister, Esther Von Ahsen.
