Helen J. Sorensen, 95, died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016, at Mercy Iowa City.
Memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hills, where there will be a time of visitation one hour before the Mass. Burial will be at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, west of Hills.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to Hills Atrium Village.

Helen was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on May 15, 1921, to Claude L. and Alma (Duba) Parker. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1939 and then attended and graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Iowa City in May 1942. On June 7, 1948, she married Lawrence J. Sorensen at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. He died June 20, 1986.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Hills, worked with the macular degeneration support group at the Senior Center, and also was involved in bridge groups there.
Survivors include her son, John L. (Rhonda Dunn) Sorensen of Iowa City; three grandchildren, Laura Lyons (Johnny), Dana Sorensen (Amy Anderson) and Emily Michener (Nick); great-grandson, Brennan Lyons; several nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Mary Eno.
Helen's husband, brothers Gerald and Alan Parker and a special friend, Don Bolensiefer, died earlier.
