Helen A. Soden, 93, of Marion, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015, at UnityPoint Hospice, Cedar Rapids. Services: 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28, at Grace Baptist Church, Marion, conducted by Pastor Cecil Ballard. Family will greet friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Burial: Urbana Cemetery, Urbana.
Survivors include her children, Orville (Rosie) Soden and Twila Rose M. Soden, both of Marion; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; and a grandson, Richard.
Helen was born Aug. 9, 1922, in southern Iowa, daughter of Clifford and Opal (DeVault) Parker. She graduated from Urbana High School. Helen married Frank Soden in Ottumwa. Then moved to Marion, where she was a stay-at-home mother.
Helen loved watching old movies on TV, babysitting, shopping, scrapbooking and playing cards.
