HELEN MAE RINKE
Central City
Helen Mae Rinke, 93, of Central City, passed away Monday, Oct. 31, 2016, at Living Center East in Cedar Rapids. Parish vigil service: 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City. Visitation will follow until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Central City. Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery, Central City.
Helen is survived by a daughter, Lori Kula of Prairieburg; a son, John (Christine) Rinke of Swisher; four grandchildren, Amber (Patrick Jr.) Hoyt of Springville, April Kula of Cedar Rapids and Alicia and Arrick Rinke of Swisher; and three great-grandchildren, Alivia, Abbi and Clarence.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl; and siblings, William Stanek and Violet Formanek.
Helen was born May 24, 1923, in Belle Plaine, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Carvat) Stanek. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School and attended Coe College. In Belle Plaine, Iowa, Helen married Carl Rinke in 1959. She was a school teacher and a homemaker. Helen was a longtime member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Central City.
