She was born Sept. 15, 1919, at old Mercy Hospital, Anamosa, the youngest child of Julius Peet and Stella (May) Peet. Due to Mrs. Peet's and Helen's poor health, the family moved from the Jones County farm to Mount
Vernon in 1920.

After retiring from farm life, Helen maintained a large garden, canning and freezing large quantities of food. She took classes through Kirkwood during the fall and winter and enjoyed feeding birds and observing wildlife. She belonged to the United Methodist Church of Mechanicsville and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by many friends.
