Helen Genevieve Murray, 99, of Iowa City, died peacefully Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, at the Solon Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Iowa City, with Father Steven Witt officiating. Visitation will be after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Graveside committal will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Lawler.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Regina Education Center or St. Mary's Church.
Helen was born Nov. 24, 1917, in Lawler, Iowa, the daughter of Michael and Genevieve (Burns) Murray.
Helen graduated from Saint Louis University in 1944 with her degree in nursing. She spent her professional career as operating room manager in Kalispell, Mont., and Mercy hospitals in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City.
Survivors include nieces, Mary Ann Murray of Iowa City and Melissa (Jim) Zender of Los Gatos, Calif.; nephew, Michael (Anne) Murray of Iowa City; and great- nieces and great-nephews, Patrick and Michael Henderson and Michelle, Kathryn and Daniel Murray.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William, Russell and Ralph; and sister, Mabel Miller.
